About our Mission
Angels on Horseback's ongoing goal is to provide opportunities for individuals with mental or physical disabilities while learning to care for and ride a horse. We offer therapeutic horseback riding and other equine activities which provides many physical benefits, including improved strength, flexibility, muscle tone and motor skill development. Our program also provides wonderful emotional benefits to our students which include: a strong sense of belonging, independence, self confidence, and happiness.
Our dedicated caring N.A.R.H.A. certified instructors are specially trained in adaptive teaching methods. They are trained to work with people with a variety of disabilities to learn horsemanship skills while experiencing the equine environment at our program. Our instructors help to build rewarding relationships between the student and the horse. This relationship of trust and loyalty between student, instructor and horse helps the students to realize their self importance and the student feels confident to extend these wonderful new attributes into their personal lives. The values of therapeutic horseback riding can benefit individuals with a number of conditions, including muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, mental retardation, autism, multiple sclerosis, spina bifida, emotional disabilities, brain injuries, attention deficit disorder, stroke and more.
Schedule of Lessons
Our hours of operation are Tuesdays 3:30p.m. to 6:00p.m., Saturdays 9:00a.m. to 1:00P.m.
Each lesson is fifty minutes in length and costs $40.00.
Spring Session,March 6th - May 29th. Horse Show Sat. May 29th.
Summer Session, June 12 - August 21st, Horse Show Sat. Aug. 21st.
Fall Session, Sept. 1st - November 13th, Horse Show Sat. Nov. 13th.Hoping you will plan your year around Angels! Looking forward to seeing you soon!
However, watch your email for lesson changes due to in-climate weather. Sometimes we offer tack room lessons on days when riding is not possible. There is so much to be learned in the Angels tack room.
